Five of a family die in Manikganj boat capsize

Five persons of a family mostly women and children drowned when a mechanized boat capsized at Charpara village under Daulatpurupazila of the district on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Three bodies have been rescued on Tuesday after one hour of the incident whiles the rest two others were rescued on Wednesday.

Family and locals said, the family members met the tragic incident when they were going to           their relative’s house for post     Eid reunion by a country made  boat to Charmastul village from their own village home Abudanga.

The boat owned by the family abruptly met the stormy wind and capsized while it was running over the huge flood water at around 2 pm Tuesday.

All seven passengers including boatman fell on the deluge and went missing.

Two of them, boatman Abdul Huque, husband of Honufa and Monir, son of Roksana were rescued alive after nearly one hours of the incident.

The deceased were identified as Honufa Begum (32), her sister Roksana (30), their brother Riazul (25), Shanto (12), son of Roksana and Mithila (10) daughter of Honufa.

Hashmat Ali, Inspector (investigation) of Daulatpur Police Station confirmed the incident Wednesday and said the process for burial of the dead is on.
