A court in Narail sentenced five people to life-term imprisonment for killing a man in Kalia upazila of Narail district in 2010.
District Additional and Sessions Judge Md Akram Hossain handed down the verdict to Faijur Mollah, Faruk Mollah, Kamal Khan, Ashikur Rahman and Foshiar Mollah. All of them are the residents of Shatbaria village in Kalia upazila.
In the verdict, the court also acquitted 21 accused for not proved allegation against them. According to the details of the case, on April 10 in 2010, the convicts hacked one Sobhan Faraji to death in broad day light over previous enmity at Shatbaria village.
Following the murder, victim's brother filed a case accusing 26 people with Kalia Thana. Testifying witnesses and evidences the court gave the verdict in presence of three convicts. Ashikur Rahman is on run while Foshiar Mollah died during hearing, said Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Emdadul Islam.
The court also fined each convicts Taka 30000.
