A mobile court sentenced five people to one month of imprisonment in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon on Thursday for doing mutation by forging SA Khatiyan.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Arafat Hossain declared the verdict at 5:00pm on Thursday.

The Upazila AC Land Office primarily identified them as members of forgery gang after observing them for a long time. Judge of the mobile court, Mohammad Arafat Hossain, said the ownership of Khatiyan no. 914 of Boropalashbari Mouja is recorded in a person’s name on online. A gang forged the Khatiyan and added several people’s name on it. Then they applied for mutation at the Upazila Land Office in 2023-24 fiscal year. Although the application for mutation was approved at that time, it has recently come to our attention, said the Mohammad Arafat Hossian.

He also said that after verifying the matter, it was known that the gang applied for mutation by forging SA Khatiyan and other papers. When the five members of the gang confessed to their crime after we identified them, they were sentenced to one month of simple imprisonment under section 188 of penal code 1860 for disobeying an order issued by a government employee. If anyone commits such crime in the future, they will be subjected to stricter punishment, he added.

Moreover, he requested people to come directly to the AC Land Office without any medium to get any kind of service of the Land Office.
