Five brokers were detained from the outpatient department and medicine department of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMC) on Thursday. These brokers were detained from various wards of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for trying to lure patients to private hospitals.
The detainees were identifies as Abu Kalam, 32, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of of Chaumuhani area under Muradnagar police station in Cumilla district, Shahadat Hossain, 25, son of Mahbubur Rahman, resident of Noapara East Chowdhury Haat area in Raojan upazila, Golam Kibria, 24, son of Abu Taher, resident of Gomdandi Fultal area in Boalkhali upazila, Sujan Singh, 39, son of Gaurang Singh, resident of ward No. 9 under Noapara union in Raujan upazila and Abdul Awal,31, son of Nurul Haque, resident of Charati Union in Satkania upazila.
Sub-Inspector of Chattogram Medical (CMC) College Hospital Police Station Nurul Alam Ashiq confirmed the matter.
He said that they detained the brokers in front of the outpatient department and medicine department of Chattogram Medical College Hospital. The five detainees are members of the broker gang. They work to transport patients from Chattogram Medical College Hospital to private hospitals.
They have taken legal actions against them, said Nurul Alam Ashiq.
He said that the detained five brokers are involved in shifting patients from government hospitals to private hospitals by giving the patients wrong explanations about treatment. They encourage patients to get tests done at the lab of their choice. But all types of tests are available at low cost in Chattogram Medical Collage Hospital.
Such operations will always be continued, said the Sub-Inspector.
