In a special operation under the code name "Devil Hunt", police in Galachipa, Patuakhali, have arrested five individuals, all reportedly affiliated with Awami League. They were sent to jail through the court on Thursday.
According to Galachipa Police Station, the operation was conducted on Wednesday night across different areas of the upazila, based on confidential information. The police team arrested the suspects for alleged involvement in drug dealing, possession of illegal arms, and various criminal activities.
The arrestees are Md. Farhad Hossain, President of Galachipa Municipal Krishak League, Md. Sabuj Khan and Md. Ripon Akon, both members of Dakkua Union Awami League, Md. Nasir Molla, General Secretary of Ward-9 Jubo League, Galachipa Sadar Union, and Md. Hafizur Rahman Chowkidar, General Secretary of Panpatti Union Sramik League.
Officer-in-Charge Ashadur Rahman stated that legal proceedings are ongoing and that “Devil Hunt” is a regular crime-prevention initiative by Galachipa Police.
