A fish trader was stabbed to death by some miscreants at fish market area of Jashore on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain Munna, 27, son of Aftab Hossain Hiru of Churipatti area of Jashore.

The deceased's elder brother, Sadekul Islam said Munna was a partner in the ownership of two fish markets named ‘St. Martin's Fish’ and ‘Abul Khayer Fish’. Munna went to the fish market for collecting money at around 7.30 pm in the evening. When he reached in front of Adam’s tea stall in the area 3 to 4 miscreants including Palash, a local stabbed him brutally. Locals rescued Munna and admitted him to Jessore General Hospital.

He died at 8 pm while undergoing treatment. Doctor Mahmudul Hasan Pannu confirmed his death. He added that police chased several people, including Palash, for stabbing a young man at the fish market four days ago. At that time, Munna helped police to chase them.

Sadekul claimed Munna was murdered for helping the police in that incident.

Jessore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman said Munna might have been killed due to fish market-centric conflict and Police is working to arrest those who are involved in the killing.
