In Jamalpur, on this day (March 13) in 1971, the first red and green flag emblazoned with the map was hoisted at Gauripur Kachari in Jamalpur city. And a flag bearing rally was held to celebrate Flag Hoisting Day in Jamalpur on this occasion.
On Sunday morning, a flag-bearing procession left Tamaltala and ended at Shilpakala Auditorium in the city. The heroic freedom fighter Abdul Matin Mia (Hiru) Welfare Foundation organised a discussion.
Amir Uddin Siddiqui presided over the meeting and the newly elected mayor of Jamalpur Municipality, District Awami League Organizing Secretary Alhaj Chanowar Hossain Chanu was present as the chief guest. National anthem was sung during flag hoisting.
