First batch of Bangladeshi squad arrives in Pakistan

The first batch, contained 10 players including team manager and some of the coaching staff of Bangladeshi squad arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to play three Twenty20 series against the hosts Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).  

The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be held in Lahore Gaddafi Stadium, with the first match scheduled for May 28.

The first group of the contingent arrived in wee hours of Sunday and two more groups will arrive today, according to the PCB.

Team manager of Bangladesh team Nafees Iqbal, who accompanied the first group, informed that the second group scheduled to depart from UAE today. 

Nafees also informed that Mustafizur Rahman, who played his final match for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday, will join the team soon after ending his IPL duty. 

Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who are currently in Pakistan and are representing Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), are expected to join the team after the PSL final against Quetta Gladiators.  

According to a statement of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) both the hosts and the visitors Bangaldesh team teams will have training sessions today at 7:30pm at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore and tomorrow before the series opener very next day (May 28). The remaining two matches are scheduled for May 30 and June 1 respectively. 

Meanwhile, the players of Pakistan squad also scheduled to assemble in Lahore after participating in Sunday’s final of the Pakistan Super League.   

Bangladesh were initially scheduled to play five T20Is, but the tour was put in jeopardy following a cross-border conflict between Pakistan and India this month.

The PCB was also forced to reschedule its Twenty20 league — the Pakistan Super League (PSL) — after a ten-day break.
