Firefighters asked to work by upholding standard of rank

Passing out parade of 62nd batch of fire-fighters held

The Passing Out Parade of 388 Fire-fighters of 62nd batch was held at the Parade Ground of FSCD Training Complex at Mirpur in the city on Wednesday (November 8). 

Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, Director General of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense; attended the function of the Passing Out Parade as the Chief guest.  

At the function, DG Md Main Uddin has said that the firefighters should engage themselves in the service of the country by retaining the strict discipline. “Firefighters must be engaged in the service of the country by upholding the standard of rank,” he said. 

DG Md Main Uddin also recalled with deep respect the supreme sacrifice of all the martyred who were killed during the Struggle of Freedom Movement, the best Bangalee of all ages, Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all his martyred family members, the fire fighters who sacrificed their lives in the accidents caused during douzing of fire and during the rescue operations including at the BM Container Depot explosion at Sitakunda.

The function was attended, among others, by the Directors, top ranking officials, Project Directors, Managing Director of Welfare Trust, Principal of the Training Complex of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense. 

The Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense also Administered the Oath of Office to the novice Fire Fighters and inspected the parade and took the salute at the march-past by the members of the contingent. 

Two of the best performed fire fighters were awarded with medals by the Director General at the function. He also expressed his deep gratefulness to the Prime Minister and the Home Ministry for awarding the Fire Service dept with 'Swadhinata Award-2023' and the implementation of life-long ration for the fire fighters.

Warehouse Inspector acted as the Parade Commander at the Passing Out parade while Dr Mostafa Abdur Rahim, Inspector Nuruddin and Inspector Anowarul Islam presented the functions. 

A total of 650 Fire Fighters from across the country including 388 from Dhaka have successfully completed their training and are going to join their duties, informed Media Cell of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense.
