The detective branch police in a raid at Nitaiganj Rishipara on Wednesday evening arrested an illegal firearms manufacturer with three firearms and ammunition under Sadar Police Station in the city.
Arrested was identified as Karim Mia, son of Siddikur Rahman, resident of Nitaiganj area under sadar police station in Narayanganj. He hailed from Chandpur district in 1990.
Police recovered two revolvers, a one shooter gun (single barrel gun), one round short gun bullet, ledge machine and other equipment that were used to make the firearms.
Additional police super (crime) Chau Lau Marma said that the investigation was conducted on secret information and the arrestee apparently admitted his guilt in illegal firearms manufacture and selling.
Police added that the arrested Karim Mia,60, manufactured firearms and sold them in disguise as he is a pigeon renderer. He has been rending pigeons in his as to suppress his crime.
Officer in Charge of Sadar police station Shahadat Hossain said that a criminal case was recorded with Narayanganj sadar police station in this regard.
