Fire guts 20 houses in Thakurgaon

A total of 20 houses belonging to nine families, along with cash, were gutted by fire in Thakurgaon on Sunday. The victims said they faced a loss of around Tk 20 lakh in total.

The fire incident took place at Khamar Senua village in Pirganj Upazila on early Sunday. A total of 20 houses, paddy, rice, clothes, furniture, dishes and kitchenware, cash, important documents and all the other things belonging to nine families were burnt to ashes due to the fire.

The victims were identified as Farazul Islam, Faruk, Rasul Bakhs, Aiyub Ali, Shahadat Ali, Shaheed Ali, Nazrul Islam, Anisun and Masud Rana, all residents of the same village.

Victim Farazul said I was sleeping during the fire incident. After noticing the fire suddenly, I came out somehow. As the fire spread rapidly, everything including paddy, rice, clothes, money got burnt. I could not get any important thing out of the house.

Bhomradaha Union Parishad Chairman Hitlar Haque confirmed the matter. He said temporary help is being provided from Union Parishad and Upazila Parishad. The matter is being looked into as well.

Officer-in-Charge of Pirganj Police Station, Khairul Anam Don, confirmed the matter saying police members were sent to the spot. We are looking into the 

matter either it was an act of sabotage or not.
