Fourteen workers of a readymade garments factory (RMG) received burn injuries in a gas leakage fire incident inside the factory on Thursday night.
It is informed that the factory caught fire when a wielding machine mechanic was repairing a pipe inside the factory - Crony Apparel, located in Hatkhola area under Fatulla police station.
The audit officer of the factory Md. Sabbir Hossain said that all the burn-injured patients were sent to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
On information, a fire service and civil defence unit rushed to the spot but the blaze was under control before the unit had arrived, deputy director Fakruddin said.
The injured are Mehedi,30, Jakir,26, Kamrul,40, Mahbub,30, Shafik,28, Monir,28, Samsu,32, Ripon,34, Rubel,19, Jitu,40, Polash,42, Mukul ,42, Mithun,25, and Mukul,40.
Resident physician Dr Torikul Islam said that the patients were not critical but the majority received burn injuries in the face and hands.
