A fire broke out at a garment factory in the Degir Chala area of Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.
The fire broke out at Matrix Garments in the Fakir Market area around 2:44pm, according to the Fire Service.
Hiron Mia, in-charge of Bhogra Fire Service in Gazipur, said the fire originated on the third floor of the seven-storey building.
“Seven units are working to bring the fire under control. More units are on their way,” he said.
The Fire Service received information about the blaze at around 2:45pm and reached the scene at approximately 3:00pm.
Three units from Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Station, one from Konabari Fire Station, three from Gazipur Fire Station and two from Rajendrapur Fire Station were dispatched to the scene.
Of the nine units sent to the scene, seven were working to bring the fire under control at the time of reporting.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not immediately be ascertained.
Further details are expected as the firefighting operation continues.
