After nearly 11 years of suspension, the draft 'Education Act' has given conditional legitimacy to notebooks and coaching in the name of supplement books.

Six ministries, including public administration and agriculture, have objected to the draft education law, including notebooks and coaching.

To explain these objections and to finalize the draft education law, the Ministry of Education will conduct a meeting to be chaired by Dipu Moni on Sunday (May 2).

Although note-guides are currently banned, coaching is ongoing under certain conditions. As there is no specific law, note books are being marketed in the name of supplement books.

The Education Act was drafted by the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education in February this year where note-guides have been banned.

However, conditional validity has been given to the supplement books.

Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, said yesterday, "The draft law will be finalized in the meeting on Sunday. Then it will be sent to the cabinet."

He said the objections of the six ministries on notes and coaching would also be finalized at the meeting.
