Filmmaker Matiur Rahman Panu passes away

Renowned director Matiur Rahman Panu has passed away. He breathed his last at his home in Uttara at 11:20 pm last Tuesday. President of the Film Producers Association Khorshed Alam Khasru confirmed the news of his death.

He said he was suffering from a variety of old age related diseases. He also said that on behalf of the Bangladesh Film Producers and Distributors Association, I am honoring his passing soul and extending condolences to his family.

Panu first started working as Assistant Director in the year 1964. He then made his directorial debut with the film ‘Harano Manik’ in 1979. 

After that he directed Apon Bhai,Nah Mahal, Nirdosh, Shahosh, Man Marjada, Shathi, Beder Meye Josna (India), Monder Majhe Tumi.  He was also a producer outside of being a director. His produced films include 

Nirjaton, Beder Meye Josna (Bangladesh), Gariyal Bhai, Rangila, Nosimon (Bangladesh), Boumar Banobash, Moner Majhe Tumi, Molla Barir Bou, Daktar Bari, Sampanwala and others.
