Film-styled robbery in Ctg, 6 arrested

Kotwali police have arrested a gang of six robbers in a special operation launched  at Karnafuli and WASA areas of Chattogram on Friday night.

Arrested robbers were identified as Mohammad Kamal Hossain (30) of Cumilla, Moktar Hossain (22) of Panchlaish, Saddam (26) of Chandgaon, Sher Ali (32) of Fatikchhari, Masudur Rahman (40) of Anowara and Mohammad Ershad (33) of Sitakunda.

CMP South DC Mehedi Hasan gave details of the arrest of the six robbers at a press conference at his office on Saturday.

The arrested gang members were learnt to involve in film-styled robberies on various roads in the city. On June 16, the gang snatched Tk five lakh and some important documents from one Faruq Ahmed at Jamiatul Falah West Gate under Kotwali Police Station.

Kotwali police after investigation of the case arrested the gang members and recovered a homemade LG, five rounds of bullets, three knives, two motorcycles and Tk 50,000 in cash from their possession.

DC Mehedi Hasan said the gang took cover by targeting people in disguise in front of various banks. At one stage, the targeted person/people were threatened by brandishing firearms and knives before looting money from them. 

Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin said the arrested gang used to carry a film-styled robbery in the city. Arrested six robbers  will be sent to jail through the court.
