Salman Shah Jonmo Utsab 2019

Film screening starts today

Celebrating the 48th birth anniversary of the late iconic hero Salman Shah, a weeklong festival titled ‘Salman Shah Jonmo Utsab 2019’ kicked off yesterday at Modhumita Cinema Hall in Motijheel of the capital.

Organised by Dhooli Communication and presented by TM Films, a new production house, seven popular films of Salman Shah will be screened during the festival from today to 26.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as chief guest at the opening ceremony, while Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan inaugurated the event.

Besides, Gaan Bangla TV and TM Films chairman Farzana Munni and Bangladesh Film Journalists’ Association president Falguni Hamid attended the opening ceremony as special guests.

The films to be screened in the festival are--‘Keyamat Thekey Keyamat’ today, ‘Tomakey Chai’ on September 21, ‘Ma-er Odhikar’ on September 22, ‘Chaowa Theke Paowa’ on September 23, ‘Tumi Amar’ on September 24, ‘Antorey Antorey’ on September 25 and ‘Sotter Mrittu Nai’ on September 26 on the concluding day.

Salman Shah, who had been and still is a shining star in the sky of the country’s film industry. Making his first appearance on the silver screen with the film ‘Keyamat Thekey Keyamat’, he entered into the Bangladesh film industry and changed the typical image of a Bangladeshi hero. In his short film career, he acted in as many as 27 films in his lifetime and eventually made a permanent place in the hearts of the viewers.
