A special film screening event will take place this Friday to help those affected by the recent floods in Bangladesh. The event, called "Jibon Shongram er Chhobi," will show 15 short films created by filmmakers from across the country.
The event is organized by the Independent Filmmakers Community and will start at 6:30pm at Suhrawardy Udyan. It will go on until midnight and is divided into four parts, each lasting about 70 minutes. In the first part, six films will be shown. The lineup includes "The Sound is Loud" by Ivan Monowar, "Hawar Tane" by Fuad Naser, "Untang" by Golam Rabbani, "Iti Salma" by AKM Zakaria, "Your Eyes" by Mashrur Parvez, and "Ghore Fera" by Kamrul Ahsan Lenin.
The second part will feature four films: "Like a Movie" by Chaitali Somaddar, "Rokaiya" by Arifur Rahman, "Chharpatra" by Aparajita Sangeeta, and "Omar Faruqer Maa" by MM Zahidur Rahman.
The third part includes three films: "I See You" by Liton Kor, "Hawai Mithai" by Rakaet Rabbi, and "Bismoroner Nodi" by N Rashed Chowdhury. The final part will present two films: "Komalapuran" by Aminur Rahman Mukul and "Siren" by Molla Sagar.
Golam Rabbani, one of the event organizers, said that this is not a festival but an effort to use cinema to support flood victims. He hopes people will come, watch the films, and help with the relief work.
The floods have caused serious damage, killing 23 people and affecting over 5.5 million in 11 districts. According to the latest report from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, water levels are beginning to go down, and the situation is improving.
