Under the Organic Agriculture and Biological Pest Management of Gopalganj, Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Pirojpur Agricultural Development Project, a demonstration field day of watermelon crop was held at Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat.
Upazila Awami League President UP Chairman Alhaj Ajmal Hossain Mukta presided over the field day organized by Upazila Agriculture Extension Department at Jilbunia Cyclone Center of Upazila. Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Mostafa Moshiul Alam moderated the meeting where Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department Bagerhat Rafiqul Islam was present as the chief guest. Bagerhat Additional Deputy Director Abdus Samad, Sharankhola Upazila Agriculture Officer Debbrat Sarkar, Agriculture Extension Officer Hriday Hossain and teacher Mizanur Rahman were present as special guests. Among others, Lokman Sardar, a successful watermelon grower in the area, and Amjed Shah, a farmer, spoke.

Later, fruit seedlings, seeds, fertilizers were distributed among the farmers under the project of setting up family nutrition gardens in the uncultivated fallow land in the upazila agricultural office area and in the courtyards of residential houses.
