As pledged by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the monthly honourarium of the valiant freedom fighters is being raised to Tk 20,000. The freedom fighters (FFs) will get this additional allowance from July 1.
According to the Ministry of Liberation War, at present 1,91,532 freedom fighters are getting monthly honorarium. Earlier, a total of 2,05,116 freedom fighters received festival allowance, Victory Day allowance and Bengali New Year allowance.
Alongside, 11,998 martyrs, wounded survivors and other valiant freedom fighters received honorarium.
According to the sources of the finance department, in the budget of the fiscal year 2021-22, an allocation of Tk 5705 crore 12 lakh taka has been proposed for the welfare of the freedom fighters. In the financial year 2020-21, a total of Tk 3,856 crore was allocated for the freedom fighters.
In the financial year 2018-19, a total of Tk 3,305 crore was proposed for the honorary allowance of the freedom fighters. In addition to honorarium allowances, several types of allowances and honorariums will be given to general, martyrs and war survivors now wounded and freedom fighters.
Earlier on February 15, the PM announced an increase in the honorarium for the freedom fighters from Tk 12,000 to Tk 20,000.
On the same day, at the inauguration ceremony of sending honorarium directly to the personal mobile accounts of the brave freedom fighters, the Prime Minister said that the freedom fighters who liberated the country through great sacrifices in war cannot be neglected by the government.
