Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said that all the heroic freedom fighters will be given identity cards by March 26.
“It (card) will have the most modern security system in the world at present. The tender process for this purpose has already been completed,” he mentioned.
The Minister said this while addressing a discussion organized by Bangladesh Retired Government Employees’ Welfare Association on the occasion of the Great Victory Day-2021 at Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday.
Mozammel Haque said the government has increased the allowance of heroic freedom fighters (FFs) to Tk 20,000.
They will get free treatment facilities in any specialized government hospital of the country, he said adding that, the present government is making all arrangements so that the FFs could lead a dignified life.
He said, “All the indigent FFs will be given houses. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated Tk 4200 crore for them.”
At the time, the Liberation War Affairs Minister said, the government is constructing graveyards for martyred and dead heroic freedom fighters at district, upazila and union levels in the same design.
“The final list of the FFs has been prepared. Besides, freedom fighter complexes have been set up in every district and 401 upazilas of the country,” he informed.
However, Kazi Reazul Haque, president and Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Retired Government Employees’ Welfare Association and the freedom fighters also spoke on the occasion.
