Festivity marks the Flower Fair in Rajshahi

With assemblance of thousands of flowers of more than 500 species, the Flower Fair at Monibazaar area of the city was attracting a huge crowd, specially, on the occasion of the Valentine's day and the first day of Bangla month of Falgun. Baikali Sangha in cooperation with One Bank is organising this 'One Bank Flower fair-2020' for the 15th time this year. 

A total of 24- stalls have been set up at the fair. Last year the number of stalls was 18.  Organisers of the fair informed, there are at least 500 species of flowers at the fair. With various species of Marigold and roses, there are varieties of Dahlia, Chrysanthemum, Sun flower, Tube Rose, kancho, Insefia, Pacnjee, Panchjatia, Pitunia, Eforvia, Stoke, Danthus, Nastesium, Verbana, Cosmos, Gypsy, Connesion, Sinaria and Lilium. 

Bayezid Bistami, Owner of Mayer Doa Nursery informed, he brought 136 species of Rose alongwith other flowers at the fair. The price of pot with flower (and plant) is varied from Taka 50 to Taka 1,500. Shahin Mollah of Mas Nursery informed, they have 250 species of flowers in their stall. Flower with plants is being sold from Taka 10 to 1,000. 

Tania Tabasssum, a student of New Degree College informed, the fair is organised every year and she has been visiting the fair for the last six years. She said, it seems she had been lost in the arena of flowers because everywhere were the flowers and flowers. 

Sujayet Islam, RMP Commissioner (in charge) inaugurated the flower fair as the chief guest on Friday morning while Waker Hasan, Deputy Managing Director of One Bank and Abdul Mannan, Manager of Rajshahi Branch attended as special guests. Presided over by Moniruzzaman Chhana, President of Boikali Sangha, the welcome speech at the inaugural function was delivered by General Secretary of Boikali Sandha Rais Uddin Babu.
