Fertilizers and seeds of agricultural aid were seized from the house of a trader at Nandigram in Bogura. The dealer is absconding in the incident.
Police raided the house of businessman Mehedi Hasan on Monday night and seized 51 sacks weighing 10 kg, 5 sacks weighing 5 kg, 22 sacks of MOP fertilizer and 44 sacks of BOP fertilizer. Sensing the operation, businessman Mehedi fled.
It was learned that a mobile court led by UNO Sharmin Akhtar raided the house of a fertilizer and seed trader in Dalgachha village at 10 pm on Monday on the basis of secret information. Mehedi fled when he sensed the mobile court.
The rescued fertilizers and seeds are said to be at aid for farmers under the government's agriculture department.
Nandigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharmin Akhter said the recovered fertilizer seeds have been confirmed as belonging to the government's agriculture department. How the fertilizer-seed came to the trader's house will be investigated.
Nandigram Upazila Chairman Rezaul Ashraf Jinnah said the fertilizer seeds recovered in the UNO-led operation were aid for farmers in the agriculture department.
