The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), Chuadanga district office, conducted an inspection on Sunday in Atkabari area of Damurhuda upazila. During the drive, a fertiliser, seed, and pesticide shop was fined Tk 50,000 for various violations.
The shop, M/S Shishir Traders, owned by Md. Shahidul Islam, was found guilty of not displaying price lists, failing to preserve purchase and sales receipts, selling fertiliser at inflated prices, and storing fertiliser improperly. The fine was imposed under sections 38, 40, and 45 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
Officials also instructed the shop owner to follow government-fixed prices and properly maintain transaction registers.
The operation was led by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Chuadanga district office. He was supported by Md. Rafiqul Islam, a CAB representative, and a team from the Natudah police camp.
The directorate assured that such monitoring will continue to protect consumer rights.
