A recent report was published in Bangladesh Post on October 17 regarding Ferdous with the title ‘Can Ferdous act in ‘Datta’?’ The suspense about Ferdous's acting in the film finally came to an end. Ferdous is not going to act in Kolkata's film based on the famous novel 'Datta' by Saratchandra Chattopadhyay. Ferdous has been excluded from the film. In his place Saheb Chattopadhyay from India will be acting in the film.
Two films have been made in India based on this novel before in 1951 and 1976. This time Nirmal Chakraborty is making his debut film with the same novel. Instead of Ferdous in the film for the character of ‘Bilash Bihari’, it will now be played by Saheb Chattopadhyay of Kolkata.
Ferdous participated in the campaign of Trinamool Congress candidate Kanhaiya Lal Agarwal during the Lok Sabha elections in Raiganj, North Dinajpur, West Bengal, India. On that day, he also participated in the grassroots publicity rally from Karan Dighi to Islampur in Raiganj.
At that time, Trinamool candidate Dilip Ghosh, the BJP's president, protested against bringing in foreign stars for local political promotion.
After the allegations made against Ferdous were presented to the Election Commission and proven right he was ordered to leave India by the Ministry of Home Affairs. His visa was revoked. And, Indian media then reported that he had been blacklisted in the country.
The director told the Indian media, “We have waited almost six months for Ferdous. There was a problem with his visa. We've tried a lot. But nothing happened. Lastly, I took Saheb Chattopadhyay for the role of ‘Bilash Bihari’. We will start shooting again next December.”
He also said that the shooting was planned to take place in Bangladesh with Ferdous. But with the budget of the picture, it is not possible to work according to the plans. In the meantime, 10 percent of the film’s shooting has been completed. Rituparna Sengupta is playing the character of Bijaya in the film.
