Ferdous Ara is one of the country’s most prominent Nazrul Geeti singers. She has opened an academy in Dhanmondy called ‘Suroshoptok’. The academy teaches music, dance, art and many more. Ferdous Ara is the chairman of this academy.
‘Suroshoptok’ will complete two decades as an academy in February. To mark the occasion the academy will hold a special award ceremony. Ferdous Ara herself confirmed the matter.
She said, ‘The award ceremony will honour Nazrul Geeti singers, teachers, researchers, journalists and anyone who is involved with Nazrul’s works. The ceremony will include not just Bangladeshi, but many from India as well. Nazrul’s family will be honoured during the programme as well.’
Ferdous Ara added, ‘Suroshoptok is about to complete two decades since its inception. When I tought about it, I realized I should arrange an award function. It will an honour for Suroshoptok to present awards to not only Nazrul singers, but experts involved in the Nazrul’s works. That is why we are arranging the programme. I encourage everyone to take part in this. I want to thank everyone in advance. I am requesting everyone’s support regarding this event. I believe this will be a great initiative.’ Ferdous Ara is currently busy working for ‘Nazrul Sangeet Samogro 10’. In May, Impress Audio released ‘Nazrul Sangeet Samogro 9’. Ferdous Ara sang Kazi Nasrul Islam’s songs in the album with perfect pronunciation and tune. She is working for the musical arrangement of the album diligently. Sujoy Shyam and Basudeb Ghosh are assisting her.
Ferdous Ara said, ‘The first part of ‘Nazrul Sangeet Samogro’ had 9 songs. The rest of the albums all have 12 songs in them. The work for the 10th album is nearly complete. I hope the audience will get the album by the beginning of next year.’
