A number of 81 registered female voluntary organizations got cheques for Tk 24, 75,000 as a part of helping their efforts in creating awareness against child marriage and drugs in the district.
The cheques were distributed at a function at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) jointly organized by Chapainawabganj District Administration and district office of the Department of Women Affairs recently.
DC AKM Galiv Khan attended the function as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC Ahmed Mahbub-Ul-Islam in the chair.
Deputy Director of the Women Affairs Department district office Sahida Akhtar delivered the address of welcome.
Assistant Director of district office of Jubo Unnayan Department Md Mizanur Rahman, Chairman of Zila Mahila Sangstha Advocate Yasmin Sultana Ruma, Panel Mayor-3 of Chapainawabganj Municipality Naznin Fatema Zinia, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Shibganj Upazila Women Affairs Officer Umme Sumaya was present at the meeting.
Each of 21 organizations from 'A' category got a cheque for Tk 40,000, each of 27 organizations from 'B' category received a cheque for Tk. 30,000 and each of 33 organizations from 'C' category got a cheque for Tk. 25,000.
A total of 19 organizations from Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, four from Shibganj upazila, 48 from Gomostapur upazila, four from Nachole upazila and six from Bholahat upazila received the cheques.
