The hanging body of a woman has been recovered from an official residence of Mohammadpur Upazila Parishad in Magura.
The dead Papia Dutta, 39, was a social worker in the child protection project of Department of Social Services.
Police recovered the body from the women's hostel of Promot Bhaban located in the upazila parishad premises on Sunday night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Abdur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said the hanging body of a woman was recovered from the women's hostel. A veil was tied around her neck. Initially, the incident is being considered as a suicide. However, the real reason behind it is not yet known.
OC Abdur Rahman further said that the deceased woman has a daughter. Her husband Mithun Dhar lives in Khulna. A case has been initially registered with the police station in this regard. The body has been sent to morgue for autopsy.
