Female RMG worker killed in Savar road crash

A woman Ready Made Garment (RMG) worker was killed in a road crash on Dhaka-Aricha highway, in Nabinagar area of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday morning.

Police, later, recovered the body and sent it to Capital’s Shahid Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The deceased was identified as Jamela Begum, 25, hailed from Charma village under Sadar police station of Gopaganj district. She used to works at Asetx Garment Ltd, located Konabari area in Gazipur, confirmed Md. Atiqur Rahman, OC, Savar highway police station.

Police sources said the incident took place around 9:00 am before Sena Shopping Complex of the Nabinagar area. 

A Dhaka-bound passenger bus of ‘Osman Paribahan’ crashed the woman while she was trying to cross the road, and leave her dead on the spot.

“We, however, later chased the bus and seized the bus, but its driver managed to flee”, the OC said.

He further said they did not get detailed identity of the deceased, or where she lived, adding that preparation to file a case in this connection was underway.
