Meanwhile, in a message sent to the media, DMP's Media and Public Relations Deputy Commissioner (DC) said Mohammadpur police had arrested domestic worker Ayesha from Jhalakathi for her involvement in the double murder in Mohammadpur.

On Monday, Laila Afroze, 48, a homemaker, and her daughter, Nafisa Lawal Binte Aziz, 15, were hacked to death inside their apartment on the seventh floor of a building at 32/2/A Shahjahan Road in Mohammadpur. The accused domestic worker, Mosammat Ayesha, fled after the killings.

Following the incident, the victim's husband, AJ M Azizul Islam, filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station on the same day, naming domestic worker Ayesha as the accused. Azizul Islam is a teacher at Sunbeams School in Uttara.

In the case statement, he said, "Four days ago, the accused began working at my home as a part-time domestic worker. Around 7am on Monday, I left for my workplace in Uttara. While I was there, I tried repeatedly to contact my wife by phone but failed. Later, having no other option, I returned home at around 11am and found my wife lying dead with deep cuts to her neck and other parts of her body. My daughter was lying critically injured near the main gate of the apartment, with a cut on the right side below her neck. Seeing her condition, I immediately rescued her and sent her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital with the help of cleaner Md Ashiq. After taking her to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared her dead."
