FBCCI for implementing VAT, Tax, Utility charges in compliance with the WTO

FBCCI leaders on Thursday urged the government  to implement VAT, Tax and Utility charges in compliance with the World Trade Organization (WTO) aiming to control the expenses of running business as well as to further enhance the competition capacities of businessmen of Bangladesh.

The newly elected President of the apex trade body, the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) made the call while the new office bearers paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser, Salman F Rahman at his office at BIDA, Agargaon in the capital. 

FBCCI leader also drew the attention of Salman F Rahman in regard to technical and policy support of the government in enhancing capacity of local industries, easy availability of technology and raw materials, modernization of logistics and port management and making highest use of internal mineral resources.

"Businessmen to be inspired in investing in special economic zones, separate plots could be allocated for women and food processing sector at the special economic zones. Internal facilities has to be increased and number of business incubation centers should be increased to inspire startups", Mahbub said.        

Vice President of FBCCI, Khairul HUda Chapal, Shomi Kaiser, Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarker, Rashedul Hossain Chowdhury Rony, Joshoda Jibon Debnath also spoke on the occasion.

Replying to various proposals of FBCCI leaders, Salman F Rahman assured them that the government will work intensively to further improve the environment of business. 

He said the economy of Bangladesh was moving forward better but the war between Ukraine and Russia posed challenges again but the government has already undertaken various steps to keep the flow of economic growth upward.
