Favourites win their respective matches

Chittagong Abahani Limited, Saif Sporting Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club won their respective matches in the ongoing TVS Bangladesh Premier League football on Sunday.

After a 14-days interval premier league resumed with four matches of 10th round were held at different venue across the country with all the day’s favourites earned full three points defeating respective opponents.

Chenedu Mathew slammed a hat-trick as Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club defeated Swadhinota Krira Sangha by 3-1 to remain unbeaten as only the team on the ongoing league when one match left to play in the first phase.      

However, Sheikh Jamal, the reigning runners up team, predictably won the match at away ground against Swadhinota Krira Sangha at Muktijudhho Stadium, Rajshahi.

Sheikh Jamal now on the third position after 10 outings when they won five and drew as many matches to accumulate 20 points.

Chenedu opened the scoring on 39th minute, doubled the advantage nine minutes later when he completed the hat-trick on 67th minute. Turkovic scored one to reduce the margin for Swadhinota Krira Sangha on 53rd minute.

At Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium, Cumilla, Chittagong Abahani defeated Muktijodha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 2-1 with Thankgod and Sohel Rana scored one goal each for the winners and Soma Otanj reduced one for Mukti.

Chittagong Abahani, in a bid to claim a spot among top four or five managed 18 points from 10 matches after winning five and drew three matches.

Before to play the last match of the first leg, the Port City based club are now on fifth place and at least to finish the first phase on fifth place they would have to win the remaining match against Bangladesh Police.

Ebimobowei Thankgod led Chittagong Abahani on 27th minute but Muktijodha KC, who are struggling with six points, raised hope to have at least one point with leveling the margin just on 45th minute through Soma Otanj.

Sohel Rana thrashed the hope of Mukti regaining the lead on 66th minute, as CTG Abahani earned full three points they deserved.

Saif Sporting Club blanked Uttar Baridhara Club by 3-0 with Udoh, Gafurov and Shakil scored one goal each.

After winning the match Saif made their tally 14 from 10th matches.
