As soon as Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their separation, Fatima Sana Shaikh found herself trending on Twitter. She shared screen space with the superstar in ‘Dangal’ (2016) and ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ (2018).

Now, when they announced their separation, the netizens are indirectly blaming Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Shaikh – debuted in the film industry in 2016 with the movie ‘Dangal’ produced by Aamir – mentioning her as the “third wheel” between Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao.

Many think that “it is Aamir’s weakness towards Fatima” is the main reason behind this divorce. Aamir’s relation with Fatima is not new; even they were seen together in many events.

Khan and Rao released a statement on their divorce and said- "In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love.

Now, we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives—no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together," read the statement, as they continue their family vacation in Ladakh. Aamir, who is scheduled to resume work for ‘Laal Singh Chadha’, will then take off to Kargil for the shoot in four days.

The statement further added that the couple has been in talks of separation for a while, but will continue to work together on their passion projects. “We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, the Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about.”

Fatima became popular even before the audience knew her name. Way back in 1997, she endeared herself to viewers playing Kamal Hassan and Tabu's daughter in ‘Chachi 420’. Years later, she would score her first blockbuster with the 2016 Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’. She has lately been seen in films such as ‘Ludo’ and ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’, and is now gearing up for her next film, the OTT anthology ‘Ajeeb Daastaans’. The actress says she constantly doubts herself, adding that she wants to better herself.    —IANS
