The police in Jhenaidah have arrested a man of Dhanharia village of Jhenaidah Sadar thana on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in torturing his two minor sons as a trap to bring back his divorced wife who left the house two years back.
Jhenidah Sadar police station officer in charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said a woman namely Shirin Sultana of Arappur village informed the police men that her two sons were living with her ex husband Shimul Hossain of Dhaharia village in Jhenidah Sadar when she had divorced the husband about two years back.
She was compelled to divorce the husband as he (Shimul Hossain) was drug addict and not involved with any income activities. Staying at home Dhaharia village, Shimul frequently tortured her without any reason. The locals had sat for amicable settlement, but he could not be refrained from doing his torture.
Shimul was convincing her to bring back at his home and threatening her. As she denied of the proposal, Shimul had tortured the two minor sons tying them in the house. He usually forced the minors to sweep the house like a housemaid. Finding no other alternative, the duo had carried his instruction.
Recently Shimul released a video where he was torturing two sons tying in the house and the panicked duo was crying. Upon receiving a complaint from Shirin Sultana, the police recorded a case and arrested Shimul Hossain from his house on Tuesday afternoon.
Police also rescued the children from the house at Dhanharia village. Police will send the arrested in the court, OC said.
