Lalpur (Natore) Correspondent: A father and daughter from Lalpur, Natore, have created a remarkable example by passing their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations simultaneously. Abdul Hannan and his daughter Halima Khatun’s achievement has captured widespread attention and praise in their community.
Abdul Hannan, son of the late Lal Mia from Narayanpur village in Gopalpur municipality, Lalpur Upazila, and his daughter have demonstrated that education knows no age limit. Both successfully passed the 2025 HSC examinations from different colleges.
Abdul Hannan shared that he initially failed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam in 1998 from North Bengal Sugar Mills High School and then focused on family life. After 25 years, in 2023, he and his daughter appeared for the SSC exams together at Ruigari High School. Enrolling secretly without informing anyone, he managed to pass alongside his daughter. Their story received widespread media coverage, earning Abdul Hannan considerable local admiration.
This year, Abdul Hannan took the HSC exam at Kakramari College in Bagha Upazila, while Halima appeared at Gopalpur Degree College, with both passing successfully.
Halima Khatun said, “Despite our family’s financial struggles, my father’s determination has been a great inspiration. We aim to complete our studies together up to a master’s degree.”
Currently, Abdul Hannan supports his family, including his wife, daughter, and two sons, by working as a tea seller. His unwavering passion for education has made him a true inspiration in their community.
