At least 10 persons were killed and 17 others injured in a fatal road crash at Sologhar under Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district on Friday afternoon. “At least 10 people including two children and two women died and many others were injured when a microbus packed with bridal party members collided with a bus, ,” Md Zayedul Alam, Superintendent of Police of Munshiganj, told reporters on the spot.
However, the identities of the deceased couldn’t not be known yet, police official said.
He added carrying the groom party the microbus was going to Keraniganj, Dhaka from Munshiganj’s Louhajang. “When the Mawa-bound bus of Swadhin Paribahan smashed the microbus in Sologhar area, six people including microbus driver died on the spot while four others succumbed to their injuries at Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex and Dhaka Medical College Hospital,” the police super said. All the bodies have been kept at Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex and the critically injured people were admitted to the hospitals and clinics while slightly hurt were discharged from hospitals after giving first aid, police said..
Talking to reporters, Asaduzzaman, additional police superintendent, Sreenagar Circle, said the Mawa-bound passenger bus of Swadhin Paribahan collided with the Dhaka-bound microbus at about 2pm, leaving all the members of party members dead. The fatal accident took place within a few weeks of enforcement of a new Transport Act to bring discipline on roads and highways.
