Farmers urged to ensure safe food for a healthy nation

1,500 farmers get free Aus seeds, fertilisers in Jhenaidah

Jhenaidah office of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) distributed seeds and fertilizers among 1,500 poor and marginal farmers in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning. 

The agricultural materials were distributed at the upazila parishad premises under the agriculture incentives programme of the government. Jhenaidah Sadar upazila agriculture office organized the programme.

Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) Zahedul Karim said they distributed the agriculture materials among the farmers free of cost to encourage the farmers to boost Aus production in the current Kharip season.

The UAO added, each of the farmers will receive five kilogram of Aus paddy seeds and 30 kilograms of chemical fertilizer in the season.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhenaidah Mozibor Rahman distributed the agricultural materials as the chief guest while deputy director of the DAE Asgar Ali, Jhenaidah Sadar upazila parishad chairman Advocate Abdur Rashid, Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) SM Shahin, woman vice chairman Arati Dutt, upazila agriculture officer Zahedul Karim among others were present.

DC Mozibor Rahman in his speech said the government of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had extended her hands to boost production in all sectors where the agriculture was considered most important. 

The farmers have been producing surplus food to meet the national demand. They have been strengthening their socio-economic state with hard and sincere work. The DC urged every farmer to work for ensuring safe food for a healthy and sound nation at the time.
