A farmers' market wss inaugurated in Kalkini Upazila of Madaripur district on Saturday to ensure fair prices for agricultural products.
The market was inaugurated by Kalkini upazila administration, with the support from Kalkini municipality and the Department of Agricultural Extension on the Dak Bangla premises of the upazila on Saturday morning.
Kalkini Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Uttam Kumar Das was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, while Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahbuba Islam, Upazila Agricultural Officer Milton Biswas, Municipal Sub-Assistant Engineer Liton Hossain, and others were also present at the event.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Uttam Kumar Das said the farmers' market was established to ensure fair prices of agricultural products, allowing farmers to sell their pesticide-free producets directly to consumers without any middlemen or tolls.
