Many farmers of Dumuria upazila in the district have made a good profit by cultivating vegetables on the banks of water bodies, reports BSS. Alongside cultivating fish, farmers produced vegetables on the banks of the water bodies, said Asaduzzaman, a farmer of Fulbari village in the upazila told BSS.

“I cultivated different varieties of vegetables as officials of upazila office of Agricultural Extension (DAE) extended their cooperation…By cultivating the vegetables on the banks of water bodies like pond I got good yield,” he added.
Asaduzzaman started cultivating beans, ‘Borboti’, ladies finger, tendril, cucumber and papaya simultaneously on the banks and isles after raising bamboo-made over-head and on-land fences spending Taka 25,000 in the second year.

He also cultivated bean, ladies finger, tendril, cucumber and papaya and earned some handsome amount of money.
Like Asaduzzaman, many farmers in Dumuria upazila are benefiting financially by cultivating vegetables on the banks of water bodies. The DAE sources said the government provided agri-inputs including distribution of fertilizer, quality seeds and technological supports to the growers of the upazila for cultivating the vegetable to increase crop production in the country.
