The training, held at the Kalapara Upazila Farmers’ Training Center, was chaired by Upazila Agriculture Officer Sudip Biswas. Discussions focused on soil sample collection methods, balanced fertilizer use, soil health preservation, and identifying adulterated fertilizers.

Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saif Ul Arefin attended the program as the chief guest, while Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Raihan Kabir and Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Md. Farid Hossain were also present. The session was conducted by Israt Jahan, Senior Scientific Officer of SRDI.

During the workshop, speakers emphasized that maintaining soil fertility is crucial for sustainable agricultural productivity and food security. They urged farmers to adopt scientific methods of soil testing and apply fertilizers based on test results to reduce input costs and protect the environment. Participants actively engaged in practical demonstrations and shared local challenges related to soil degradation and fertilizer use. The organizers hoped the training would help farmers ensure long-term soil health and increase crop yields in the region.
