Farmers Field Day was held at Noakhali Hatia with the aim of increasing the production of barley crop. This field day is organized to encourage the farmers to cultivate barley, a nutritious crop of improved varieties.
The field day was held at 22 NO village of Charking Union of the Upazila on Wednesday.
Chattogram Region Additional Director of Agriculture Mofazzal Karim present as a chief guest on Upazila Department of Agriculture Extension organized field day.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Shahidul Haque, District Agriculture Training Officer Ayub Mahmud, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Nurul Islam and Upazila Plant Protection Officer Jasim Uddin spoke on the occasion.
Speakers said barley is a profitable crop. It has been cultivated on two bighas of land in different experimental areas in Hatia for the first time. The production of barley crop in collaboration with the Agriculture Office is expected to be good. Barley is basically a crop like wheat. It is mostly used as a raw material in making Horlicks. It contains a lot of nutrients. Earlier, officials visited a barley crop field in the same area.
