Farmers expect bumper wheat yield

The farmers of six south-western districts of Jashore region DAE are expecting about 1,10,425 tonnes of wheat production in the current season. They had brought a total of 32,574 hectares of land under the farming. 

According to the office sources of DAE in Jashore, the farmers of Jashore district brought 399 hectares of land under the wheat farming and production target 1,352 tonnes, Jhenidah farmers in  brought 4,278 hectares of land and production target 14,502 tonnes, Magura farmers brought 2,845 hectares of land and production target 9,644 tonnes, Kushtia farmers brought 11,557 hectares of land and production target 39, 178 tonnes, Chaudanga farmers brought 995 hectares of land and production target 3,373 tonnes and Meherpur farmers brought 12,500 hectares of land and production target 42,375 tonnes under the wheat farming this season. 

The sources said all the farmers have completed the sowing the seeds on their lands which are growing naturally with the favourable climate.

Deputy director (acting) of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) in Jashore Dipankar Das said the farmers of the district are almost aware about their crops.

Better price of wheat has been encouraging the farmers when the DAE staffs have been providing all out assistance including technology support for the farmers, he added.
