Farmers demand punishments for veg field destroyers

Farmers formed a human chain in Jhenaidah’s Kaligajnj kitchen market demanding punishments to vandalisers of the vegetable plots and immediate compensation to the affected farmers.

The 30-minute protest was organized by a local civil society platform Protyasha 2021 Forum. 

The protesters said the number of vegetables plot vandalize by a section of unscrupulous people, was alarmingly increasing when at least such 15 incidents took place in last three months in the upazila.

They said this sort of heinous activities has been breaking down the backbone of the farmers community people as the crops were the main income sources for their survival. It should not be tolerated when the prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was leding the nation as per her election pledged towards a greener Bangladesh and make the farmers self-reliance.

Protyasha 2021 Forum Kaliganj unit president Nuruzzaman Biswas, acting general secretary Abul Kalam Azad, kitchen market vendors association general secretary Zillur Rahman, organizing secretary Momin Khondaker and Hunger-free world coordinator Shahjahan Ali Bipash among others spoke.

The speakers also sought that if this sort of evil activities of the miscreants could not be stopped with laws, it will affect the national economy and discourage the farmers in cultivation in near future.
