Goons beat up a woman Rina Begum with sticks, rods and home-made weapons for going to a paddy field in East Malanch village of Melandha in Jamalpur.  Her husband Dudu Mia was also injured.  Locals rescued them and admitted them to Jamalpur General Hospital. On Sunday afternoon, Rina Begum's brother Rashedul Islam filed a case against Abu Bakkar and five others.

Dudu Mia, who was groaning in pain in the hospital bed, said he had a land dispute with his neighbor Abu Bakkar.  Hussein Mahmud Gazi, the son of Abu Bakr, one of the controversial members of the group, was attacked by his relatives with local weapons including Ramda, sticks and rods.

“When he started beating me severely, my wife Rina Begum went back and they beat her too, leaving her with bloody wounds.  Later the locals rescued us and admitted us to Jamalpur General Hospital at 8 pm,” he said.

Rina Begum, the victim of the torture, was groaning in the hospital bed with severe pain.  She said in a broken voice, “I was fasting.  Holding their hands and feet, I said, "My husband and I are fasting, please don’t beat us.”

They have inhumanely tortured us by beating us randomly without hearing anything.  We want exemplary punishment by arresting the attackers on us. Abu Bakkar could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was switched off. Attempts were made to contact Abu Bakkar.  Filed.  Attempts are being made to arrest the culprits.
