Farm research complex begins journey at HSTU

The much awaited Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Farm Research Complex began its journey today at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Rangpur. As part of Mujib Year celebrations, Vice-chancellor (VC) HSTU Professor Dr M Abul Kashem on Thursday inaugurated the farm research complex by unveiling plaque in a function at its premises on the campus as the chief guest.

Conducted by Director of the Students’ Affairs and Advisory Division of HSTU Professor Dr Imran Parvez, the function was attended by its Treasurer Professor Dr Bidhan Chandra Haldar, Registrar Professor Dr Md Fazlul Haque, Director of the Planning, Development and Works Section Professor Dr Mostafizar Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries Science Professor Dr Nahid Akhter and Proctor Professor Dr Md Khaled Hossain.

Large number of teachers, researchers, officials and students of the university were present in the function. VC said the inauguration the Complex, set up at a cost of TK 1.45 crore is very important in the history of HSTU after installation of the Farmers’ Service Centre few days ago as part of the Mujib Year celebrations.

“Students of the university will acquire practical and technical knowledge at the farm research complex. Local farmers and people will also reap the benefits of research activities to be conducted by researchers, teachers and students there,” he said. Many farmers and common people have already started coming to the Farmers’ Service Centre at HSTU and becoming benefitted getting knowledge on farm activities.

“The university students should not remain confined within theoretical knowledge. In addition to acquiring theoretical knowledge, they have to learn hands-on works to enrich practical knowledge,” he said. VC underscored the need for ensuring quality of education and research work of HSTU as international standard.
