A reception was held in Mymensingh on Monday evening to bid farewell to 15 supervising and executive engineers of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) and welcome newly appointed officials.
The event was organised at the RHD Inspection Bungalow in Khagdahar of Mymensingh city.
Additional Chief Engineer of the RHD Mymensingh Zone Md Ataur Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest.
Speakers at the event wished the outgoing and newly appointed officials success in their professional careers and stressed the need to further accelerate the development and maintenance of road infrastructure and public service activities.
Executive Engineer of the Mymensingh Road Division Kha Md Shariful Alam presided over the programme.
Outgoing Superintending Engineers of the Mymensingh and Jamalpur Circles Md Rashedul Alam and Md Moniruzzaman, respectively, spoke at the event.
Newly appointed Superintending Engineers of the Mymensingh and Jamalpur Circles Md Abul Kalam Azad and Md Mehedi Iqbal also addressed the programme.
The outgoing executive engineers honoured at the reception were Sagramoy Roy of Gopalganj, Ishrat Jahan Tamanna of the Mymensingh Workshop Division, Mahmud Al Noor Saleheen of Netrokona, Md Shakirul Islam of Sherpur, Md Nawazis Rahman Biswas of Jamalpur and Dr Cynthia Azmiri Khan of Tangail.
The newly appointed executive engineers include Mohammad Zakir Alam for Jamalpur, Amit Kumar Chakraborty for Sherpur, Md Ilias Faruk for Netrokona and Md Shahriar Alam for Tangail.
Speakers said the RHD has been playing an important role in developing and maintaining the country’s road communication infrastructure.
They said transfers and changes in responsibilities are a normal part of government service, and urged the officials to utilise the experience and skills gained in their previous workplaces to contribute to public service at their new postings.
SDE Jahangir Hossain, SDE Ruhul Amin Khan, Assistant Engineer Noor-e-Alam Kamal Pasha, SAE Zahidul Islam, contractor Ali Haider Khan, office assistant Golam Mostofa and surveyor Mithu, among others, also spoke at the programme.
Officials and employees of different levels of the RHD, contractors and other stakeholders attended the event.
Later, the outgoing officials were greeted with flowers and presented with honours, while the newly appointed engineers were formally welcomed.
