Fans unhappy with Anushka’s promotional gimmick

Anushka Sharma is worried as she shares new video about a sportswear brand she slammed a day ago. She listed all the issues she has with the brand, including its name.

On Monday, Anushka Sharma criticised sportswear brand Puma for using her images ‘without permission’. After the brand responded, the actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video of herself speaking about the brand’s ‘proposal’ after she told them to take down her photos as she was not their brand ambassador. Social media users were quick to point out that all this was a promotional gimmick used by the brand to create online buzz; while some called it ‘lame’, others said the strategy was ‘on point’.

The video shows Anushka getting her hair and makeup done and speaking out loud as she sat in front of a mirror inside a vanity room. She was also seen looking at her hairstylist and makeup artist in between as she shared her views on working with the brand. Anushka wrote in the caption of her Instagram Reels, “Considering @pumaindia ’s proposal… What say?”

In the clip, the actor said, “Wait, will I have to wear sports bra all day? It is like being stuck at the same job as Virat. Ab bolenge ‘har jaga logo dikhna chahiya (they will now say the logo should be visible everywhere)’.” Further speaking about the alleged deal with the brand, Anushka made a face and said, “Very self-obsessed. Uhhh, these guys are going to force me to be friends with that creepy cat (seen on the brand’s logo) now? Literally found that thing in our bathroom one day. Using my soap. Cats can’t even have a bath!”

Anushka was then heard talking about the brand’s name. She said, “Why did not they name it Cheetah? That’s the fastest, right?” She further complained, “My clothes are going to have cat hair all day… they own my family now? Reacting to her video, a user wrote in the comments section, “Sab promotion strategy tha (it was all a promotional strategy).” Another comment read, “Marketing on point.”

On Monday, Puma India took to their official Instagram handle and posted a picture of what appears to be a contract. The image mentions ‘Puma x Anushka’ with ‘confidential’ written on it. Along with the photo, the brand wrote in the caption, “Hey @anushkasharma, we should've reached out sooner! Should we take things to the next level, then?” Anushka had then taken to Instagram Stories to share the same, and wrote, "I'll sleep on it".

Earlier, on Monday, the actor had reposted her picture shared by the brand to promote its sale, and written, "Hey, @PumaIndia? I'm sure you know that you have to take permission before you can use my imagery for publicity since I am not your ambassador.'' The actor also demanded the brand should remove the post, writing, "Please take it down," along with angry face emojis. It was also posted by husband-cricketer Virat Kohli, who wrote, "Please sort this out Puma India." Virat also endorses Puma India.
