Family Welfare Services, Promotion Week begins in Dinajpur

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) of Dinajpur Md. Shariful Islam said, strong social movement is needed to speed up family planning activities. 

Marriage of girls at a young age cannot be stopped, unless a social awareness is raised in this regard. Mothers need to be made aware to prevent unwanted pregnancies during this corona period. 

At the same time, permanent and temporary methods of birth control should be encouraged. Everyone should work from their own position to keep everyone in good health, he added.

He made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the Advocacy Meeting on the occasion of Family Welfare Services and Promotion Week-2020 on Thursday. 

"Prevent unwanted pregnancies during corona period - take family planning services in compliance with hygiene rules", with thus theme Family Welfare Services and Promotion Week is being organized by Dinajpur District and Sadar Upazila Family Planning Office, from December 6 to 9 in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. 

Dr. Md. Abu Nasr Nurul Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director of District Family Planning Office presided over the function while Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, Acting Superintendent of Dinajpur 250-bed General Hospital and Kashi Kumar Das on behalf of Dinajpur Press Club spoke as special guests. 

FPCS-QIT Dr. Md. Rezaul Haque presented the welcome speech and the ongoing progress of family planning activities through PowerPoint while many others participated in the Advocacy Meeting for Family Welfare Services and Promotion Week. 

Chief Guest Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Md. Shariful Islam further said that the celebration of Family Welfare Service and Promotion Week will make a significant contribution for us even if the Family Planning Office maintains distance during the corona period and complies with health rules. Let us implement the vision of the government of Bangladesh by controlling the population, he added.
