Former UP member of Thakur Motaleb Hossain along with his son Tofazzal Hossain and daughter-in law Fatema Begum has been allegedly attacked by the running UP member of Kujishahar area of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila. They have been admitted to hospital after being rescued.
Locals said that running UP chairman Zainal Abedin Salwar came to a mitigation meeting on Monday to resolve a dispute between Mainul Haque and Mohsin Ali. These two had a clash over a disputed land. During the mitigation meeting, supporters of Mainul started a verbal altercation. Later, supporters of UP Zainal Abedin attacked on the business point of Motaleb Hossain and assaulted him. When the son and daughter-in-law of Motaleb tried to resist, they were also mercilessly beaten. Tofazzal Hossain during the assault got severely injured at one point.
Former UP member Motaleb Hossain said that miscreants not only assaulted him, but also robbed him and took tk three lakh from his office.
After being asked, UP member Salwar said that he was not involved with the matter. Supperters of him got pissed off and got into an altercation with the former UP member.
OC Chitma Ranjan Ray said that Salwar Hossain complained at the morning that he was insulted in a dispute resolution meeting. Later, he and his supporters attacked the former UP member. After receiving complaint, proper actions will be taken.
