The largest group of people that are affected due to shifts in economy and health quality are the poor. And to get a better life for themselves many poor families often choose to work abroad which is the second major source of our national income.

By working hard abroad, expatriates have been playing a special role for decades in keeping the wheel of the country's economy moving. But many of them are being forced to return to the country during the coronavirus period.

According to a recent survey, the average family income loss between March and May hovers at around 74 percent due to the impacts of Covid-19. And the number of returned and jobless expatriates is going to add up to these numbers.

The wave of irregularities that has been created will

affect the lives of all middle and lower class people

as well as expatriates and thus in the coming days

many Bangladeshis may lose their jobs abroad and

return to the country

The primary survey reveals that the pandemic has variously affected the low-income people. It shows that 34.8 percent of households interviewed have at least one member who lost their job.

The readymade garment sector experienced 84% reduction in exports in April 2020 compared with April 2019. This staggering drop in the numbers is due to the hiatus is production during the coronavirus outbreak.

The wave of irregularities that has been created will affect the lives of all middle and lower class people as well as expatriate and thus in the coming days many Bangladeshis may lose their jobs abroad and return to the country.

However, the government has announced to give loans to expatriates on easy terms. But the government should not be alone in standing by them; non-government organizations must also lend a hand.

When the situation returns to normal, the government will have to work hard to ensure that they can return to their jobs abroad through diplomatic talks with different countries. Until then it should be a priority to help these people in the best possible and most efficient way.
